My mother epitomized proactive health—eating organic, exercising daily, and trusting her body. Decades earlier, she had helped my dad survive stage IV cancer at 30, driven by a deep belief in resilience.
So when she was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, it was a devastating shock. I left Florida and moved to Tennessee to help my parents manage this diagnosis. Though I wasn’t a nurse yet, that diagnosis set me on an irreversible path.
The day before her first chemo appointment, she hesitated, saying, “Taylor, I really don’t want to do this.” In that moment, I felt helpless—unaware of the emotional and physical toll the next 18 months would take.
What followed was a brutal decline. I watched the strongest woman I knew endure 50 rounds of chemo, each one chipping away at her energy and cognition. And yet, the only plan was more chemo.
When the treatments failed, she was handed off to a hospice company that treated her like a case file—not a person. They missed critical needs, ignored signs of distress, and offered little comfort. I couldn’t let that stand. I took over—managing her medications, coordinating every aspect of her care, and fighting for her dignity.
I became her nurse before I earned the title—managing her care, advocating for her needs, and learning more from her illness than any textbook could teach me. By the time I graduated, just weeks before she passed, the title was only catching up to the work I was already doing.
That experience didn’t just shape me—it fueled a mission. To build a system that honors the body’s wisdom, sees patients as people, and makes space for true healing, even in life’s hardest moments.
The Resistance
Leaving conventional medicine was not a clean break. While working in a busy trauma center, the focus was simply to stabilize, discharge, and repeat. I often saw the same patients returning—sicker, more medicated, and confused—without the time to explore why they were unwell.
The ER excels in emergencies, but it’s overwhelmed with chronic conditions. Many patients needed real answers, not just quick fixes. I faced a choice: remain in a broken system or pursue the true path to healing.
Skepticism greeted my approach, with some calling it “alternative.” I call it thorough. I’ve helped patients on the brink of despair uncover root causes behind their symptoms, such as candida overgrowth and mold toxicity.
I've witnessed significant improvements: CRP levels drop, PSA markers decrease, and clients on chemotherapy return to normal liver enzyme levels. Clients regain energy and vitality, with color returning to faces dulled by overmedication.
Clients often walk into my office glowing—literally—amazed at how much their skin, energy, and overall vitality have transformed.
At Tether Wellness, we don’t chase symptoms. We restore health from the cellular level up.
It’s not always easy, and unfortunately, it’s not mainstream—but the results speak for themselves.
People often ask why I named it Tether Wellness.
The word tether symbolizes grounding—a secure connection to what matters most. But the symbol also rises in the center, representing elevation, clarity, and healing above the noise.
Tether is where stability meets transformation. It’s where you come back to yourself—and rise.
Meeting the Mentor
I immersed myself in functional lab interpretation, root-cause diagnostics, and naturopathic oncology, training under clinicians who challenged conventional methods. I learned to identify microbial imbalances, reverse leaky gut, and read lab results as healing maps.
Books like Cancer as a Metabolic Disease and The Body Keeps the Score reshaped my view of the body—not as something broken to be fixed, but as an intelligent system capable of healing when given the right support.
Watching The Unbelievable Plight of Mrs. Wright—a documentary about a nurse turned naturopath who overcame cancer using alternative therapies and nutrition—shattered my faith in conventional care. It revealed how many patients are left to suffer under a system that prioritizes protocols over healing. That story didn’t just inspire me—it solidified my commitment to question everything and create a new path forward.
Launching Tether Wellness was a personal mission inspired by my mother’s experience. I aimed to create a supportive environment for healing, moving away from the ER to focus on genuine patient care.
Validation of this path came not just from lab results, but from witnessing clients reclaim their health. Many experienced improved energy and reduced pain shortly after starting targeted protocols. Addressing root causes like gut dysfunction and toxicity led to significant shifts in health.
Sustainable health is about supporting the body’s innate abilities rather than merely suppressing symptoms. At Tether, we adopt a philosophy that prioritizes testing, terrain support, detoxification, and cellular-level work—building a strong foundation for healing.
Today, Tether Wellness serves those tired of symptom management—individuals navigating cancer, autoimmunity, or chronic illness seeking a deeper approach. We focus on running the right labs, asking the essential questions, and developing targeted strategies to restore function and resilience.
